Bodies in Motion/This is Home, 2023
This is Home depicts, as accurately as I could manage, the overall atmosphere of my life with my partner. These daily-life materials are honorable to the kind we have been setting up in the apartment where I will be living with him post-graduation, once we are no longer long-distance. Certain objects convey a more intimate and active scene, as though someone—my partner, myself, or perhaps the both of us—had been relaxing in those chairs mere minutes ago. A glass of bourbon, a pair of shoes, a book half-read; through these little details, one can imagine what my days will look like when my partner and I can finally spend the rest of our lives together. With the inclusion of my own charcoal piece, Bodies in Motion, I aim to depict the purposeful placement of myself (with art especially being the very core of my spirit) into my partner’s daily life. This placement—this acceptance of my art into our home—is something I consider to be a declaration of love and commitment as strong and meaningful as a golden ring.
